Winter Walking Festival Glen Affric

29 Jan - 1 Feb Glen Affric

Shake the mothballs from the down jacket and brush the cobwebs from the ironwork – it’s time for WinterFest 2010! Building on the success of last year’s inaugural event, -  the Glen Affric WinterFest is back.

Remaining true to its original ethos, WinterFest 2010 will see people stepping out and exploring Scotland’s terrific winter environment, pushing those winter boundaries that little bit further.

WinterFest 2010 offers both high - and low - level guided walks in the area of outstanding natural beauty that is Glen Affric National Nature Reserve. Festival goers can either develop their winter skills on the technical sessions or sample the true remoteness of the area on the high-level walks.  The mountain rescue guys even pop up on day two offering some scenario walks, exploring tracker search  techniques, casualty care and extraction, avalanche probing and shelter building.   There is even the chance to explore further a-field on the WinterFest ‘Guest Glen’ on the final day of the programme!

Once again, WinterFest 2010 partners with Tiso Outdoor Experience Inverness to get you ‘kitted out’ with their personal shopper in-store on day one.  Paramo Directional Clothing will be offering free gear tests with items from their latest winter range for those lucky first few WinterFest participants.  Meanwhile, Scotland Outdoors magazine will provide a free copy of their winter issue for all participants.

There’s also a great range of non-walking activities in the Apres-WinterFest programme, with evening talks full of inspiring images and stories of high places, plus an enchanted night walk lit by glo-sticks for the smaller members of the family, run in partnership with Forestry Commission Scotland.

We look forward to welcoming you to WinterFest 2010.
