Glen Affric Biking
Lochs of Affric - BGA1 |
|||||||||||
Explore Glen Affric and Strathglass on some of the drovers
routes and forest roads. Starting in the conservation village of Tomich we
cycle into Glen Affric along the old drovers route to the isles. The journey
around the Affric Lochs, takes us into some remote Highland countryside. We
learn about Affric Lodge, Strawberry Cottage and the bothies used by crofters,
drovers and travellers. We talk about the geology and history of the area,
whilst enjoying the rarity of peace and quiet.

Meallan – BGA2 |
||||||||||
The circuit of Am
Meallan and North Affric presents a mix of double & single-track highland
style. The climb from wild Gleann nam Fiadh and burn crossing is soon left to
memory on the descent back into the glen. Continuing on the north side of Loch
Affric we retain the theme of highland style single track before turning back
for home at Athnamulloch

Cairngorms Biking
Smugglers Passes – BCG1 |
|||||||||||
Our mountain bike journey takes us through ancient
Caledonian pine forests under the shadow of the Cairngorm Mountains. We ride
over 2 low level passes once used by smugglers and highwaymen and visit the
waters of the emerald loch. The environment provides the perfect habitat
for such rarities as the osprey, capercailie and cross bill so eyes and ears
need to be alert. Time allowing we additionally visit the serene waters of Loch
Garten.

Cairngorm Singletrack– BCG2 |

From the
highland village of Tomintoul we start the day exploring the ancient routes of
the crofters to take us through the Cairngorms and the forest of Abernethy. As
the trail gets trickier the scenery does too. Following the Ryvoan pass and the
Green Loch we discover the single tracks of Rothiemurchas and Glen Feshie
before our journey end at Kingussie.

Skye Biking
Glen Slug – BSK1 |
|||||||||||||
The Glen
Sligachan circular route is a classic cross-country epic that slides between
the red and black Cuillin mountains. Testing on both rider and machine the rock
strewn route and challenging pass set us up nicely for a Skye Ale back at the
Sligachan Hotel.
